In line with our new Attendance Policy, we are providing information to parents and carers about the amount of time your child should be kept away from school for certain illnesses. 

This is in line with Public Health England’s ‘Guidance on Infection Control in Schools’, the link to this guidance is at the bottom of the page.  Please see below the common infections and complaints and the recommended period for the absence.

Until wounds have crusted and healed, or 48 hours after starting antibiotic treatments

Ringworm

Scarlet fever

24 hours after starting antibiotic treatment

Slapped cheek

None

Threadworms

None

Tonsillitis

None

Vomiting

48 hours from last episode

Whooping cough

5 days after starting antibiotics

 

When reporting your child’s absence you will be required to provide detailed information regarding their condition.  Unfortunately we will no longer accept reasons for absences such as ‘unwell’, ‘poorly’ and ‘coughing’.
