Our Vision:

Langland Community School puts the children's needs at the heart of its provision. Our whole school community is committed to enabling the children to become successful lifelong learners and happy, fulfilled adults who can make positive choices about their future.

Langland Governing Body

The job of the Governing Body is to work with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure that young people get the best education possible.

So what does this mean?

A Governing Body has the responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the school. For ensuring that school policies are in place to achieve the best outcome for pupils and for approving the school budget. Their role is also to act as a "critical friend" of the school by supporting and challenging the Headteacher.

How is this done at Langland

At Langland the Governing Body meets in full at least once a term, with additional meetings as required. Most of the detailed work of the Governing Body is carried in three main committees, Curriculum, Finance & Personnel and Premises and Health & Safety. These committees also meet once a term, with additional meetings as required. Governors at Langland are also regular visitors to the school and will often be seen at school assemblies and in the classrooms. The Governors bring a wealth of life experience from their different backgrounds and always have the education of pupils at the forefront of their mind in every decision they make for the school.

Our Governing Body is made up of:

Parent Governors - elected by the parents

Staff Representative - elected by school staff

Local Authority Governors - appointed by the local authority

Community Governors - appointed by the governing body

The Headteacher is also a Governor.
