Langland Community School

Be Our Best to Achieve Our Best!

Safeguarding is Everybody’s Business

"Langland Community School places a very high importance on keeping its pupils safe. Senior Leaders have developed quality safeguarding systems, policies and procedures and provide quality, regular, planned, and frequent training to all staff who are committed and knowledgeable. Relationships with pupils is highly valued and prioritised. The Junior Leadership Team is active and several of its initiatives have been acted upon by staff, some of which relate to safeguarding. Pupils also reported that there were a number of staff to whom they feel they could discuss any concerns." Richard Ward - safeguarding audit, January 2023

'Be Safe'
Langland Community School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils. Safeguarding is the responsibility of all school staff, governors and volunteers at our school.

All staff receive annual safeguard training as well as receiving regular safeguarding updates to ensure that we stay fully informed and alert.

At Langland Community School we are dedicated to ensuring:

  • An environment where children and adults feel safe, secure and happy.
  • A place where children can talk about their worries and they are listened to.
  • Highly trained staff are able to identify welfare concerns and take appropriate action to address them.
  • Ensure children know that there are adults in the school whom they can approach if they are worried
  • Every child learns how to stay safe, healthy and happy through a high quality PSHE curriculum and strong school ethos.
  • Vulnerable children and families are supported.

Healthier Together website

Family looking at computer

The Healthier Together website is a digital resource designed to support children, young people and their parents/carers. It aims to empower parents and carers – giving them the right tools to manage their children and young people’s physical health and emotional well-being. In addition, it has a lot of information for young people to access and use for themselves.

The section for Parents/Carers covers key areas such as ‘Should my child go to school/nursery today’, information on a range of common illnesses and childhood vaccinations, in addition to a large section on SEND. Another section entitled Health for Young People speaks directly to young people and provides information on mental health, sexual health and LGBTQ+ issues.

Thanks to a functionality called Recite Me, the site is also accessible to people who may be disabled, visually impaired, speak English as a second language or are elderly. The web content can be translated into over 100 different languages.

Please share the website with staff and also with pupils and parents/ carers in your school community. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Linsay Taylor
